Train Your Service Dog

Atlas’ client certification program offers individualized support and certification for those who choose to train their own service dog.

As a client in our program, you are paired with one of our Atlas Team Facilitators, highly trained volunteers who will support you through the final stages of your service dog’s training.

Before being ready for Atlas’ program, you may want the help of a private trainer. Look through these statements to help you decide which route is best for you:

  • My dog is at least 14 months old and meets Atlas’ temperament and obedience requirements
  • I would like support in training my service dog for public access
  • I would like support in training and/or refining my dog’s disability tasks
  • I am committed to using positive training methods
  • I would like support in building my confidence as a service dog handler day-to-day

Or

  • I do not yet have a dog and would like help finding an appropriate dog for service work
  • My dog is not yet 14 months old and/or doesn’t have solid basic obedience skills
  • I would like a lot and frequent hands-on support with my dog’s training
  • My dog has some behavior issues I’d like some help with
  • I would like someone to board and train my dog

You are ready to apply for training and certification with Atlas!

Our Team Facilitators provide you hands-on support in training and refining your dog’s disability tasks, public access skills, and will help you navigate your everyday life as a successful service dog handler.

We recommend you contact an Atlas Certified Trainer to start!

Atlas Certified Trainers can help you with more in depth training, support, and options until you are ready to move towards Atlas’ certification program.
