Trainer's Statement

Hi, I’m Melanie—the human behind REAL K9 Training™ (Reward-based Ethically Aligned Learning). specialize in service dogs and puppies, and I’ve spent over a decade helping both reach their full potential.

My work with service dogs covers every stage of the journey. Whether you need help finding the right prospect or evaluating one you are considering, I offer support from puppy selection and early socialization to obedience, public access, and task training. I work with both new and experienced teams (with the exception of guide dog, allergen alert, or autism-specific training) and take pride in building training plans that fit each handler’s real-life needs.

In addition to service dogs and puppies, I also work with dogs who have big emotions—fear, anxiety, reactivity, or just needing a bit of extra understanding. My approach is always positive, science-based, and tailored to each individual team.

I work with clients through one-on-one coaching, day training, and virtual sessions, depending on what best fits your goals and lifestyle.

I’ve supported both civilians and veterans through nonprofit programs, and I’ve worked with rescues and shelters to help dogs build brighter futures. I also share my life with a service dog, so I understand firsthand the impact this work can have.

If you’re looking for real-life support, I’m here to help you navigate the hard parts—with heart and science.”
