Atlas Assistance Dogs (“Atlas”) places a high priority on protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy was created in order to demonstrate Atlas’ firm commitment to the privacy of our website users and to be transparent in describing the types of information collected by the Atlas website, www.atlasdog.org, and how this information is used.
What personally identifiable information do we collect from people who visit our website?
Contact Form
Atlas receives only the information entered by the user, including, potentially, name, pronouns, address, email address, phone number, user’s specific area of interest or inquiry, how the user heard of us, and the user’s comments or message.
Donations
Donations made through the Atlas website are processed by a secure third-party payment processing system. Atlas receives the donor’s name, mailing address, and email address. Atlas does not receive credit card information.
Purchases
Atlas utilizes a secure third-party platform for merchandise sales. Atlas does not receive credit card information. Atlas can access purchaser email, mailing address, and phone number as well as details on items purchased.
What information is collected through technology?
Atlas has access to site logs that provide the following information for users accessing our sites:
- IP address
- Browser
- Whether mobile or desktop
- Type of computer (Mac or PC)
- Pages visited
- Time on page
- Where the user was referred from (e.g., Google, Edge, etc.)
- Search terms used to reach our site
- Google Ads click ID (GCLID), when you reach our site by clicking one of our Google search ads
- Whether you clicked the button or link that leads to our Trainer application, which Atlas tracks as a conversion
Cookies: Atlas uses cookies and similar tracking technologies, including a cookie associated with Google Ads, to support our online advertising. These cookies help Atlas see whether someone who clicked one of our Google search ads later clicked the button or link on our site that leads to our Trainer application. This conversion tracking only tells Atlas that an ad click led to that on-site click; it does not tell Atlas whether the application was actually completed or submitted, and it does not identify you by name. You can disable cookies through your browser settings at any time, and you can opt out of personalized Google advertising through Google Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com) or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page (optout.networkadvertising.org).
Online Advertising and Conversion Tracking
Atlas advertises on Google Search. When you click one of our search ads, Google may place a cookie on your device. If you later click the button or link on our site that leads to our Trainer application, Google reports that click back to Atlas as a conversion so we can measure which ads are effective. Atlas only receives aggregated conversion information, such as confirmation that an ad click led to a click on the application link; we do not track, through this system, whether you went on to complete or submit the application. Google’s use of advertising cookies is governed by Google’s own privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time through Google Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com) or your browser’s cookie settings.
How We Use and Share Information
Atlas does not sell or rent your personal information. We may share limited, non-identifying conversion data (for example, confirmation that an ad click led to a click on our Trainer application link) with service providers such as Google Ads solely to measure and improve our advertising; these providers are not permitted to use that information for their own independent marketing purposes.
Personal Information: We use your personal information to respond to your inquiries and requests submitted
through the contact page; send periodic communications such as updates, newsletters, and fundraising appeals;
and tailor our communications and services.
You may choose to opt out of receiving communications from Atlas at any time if you do not wish to receive our
messages.
Individuals who want to apply for a specific Atlas program (Client, Atlas Certified Trainer, or Atlas Team Facilitator) will complete a separate application. Data in application forms and associated information will be protected under Atlas’ Sensitive Information Policy. That policy ensures that only designated Atlas volunteers and employees may have access to personal information and that they may only access records needed to perform their specific duties at Atlas. A copy of the Sensitive Information Policy is available upon request to info@atlasdog.org. If you arrive at our site by clicking one of our online ads, Google Ads conversion tracking may record that you clicked the link to our Trainer application after that ad click; it does not track whether you went on to complete or submit the application, as described in the Online Advertising and Conversion Tracking section above.
Usage Data from Site Logs: This usage data may be processed for the purposes of analyzing the use of the website
and services in order to improve our website and services.
