Starting 2022 Off on The Right Paw
It is hard to believe that it is already 2022. But thanks to the incredible generosity of many, our year is kicking off with excitement and opportunities.
We want to sincerely thank those who made a contribution in our Year End fundraising and spread our message. With a goal of $7,500, we are more than thrilled to announce that we raised over $27,000!
Your generosity will help more people thrive with a service dog by their side. Speaking of which…
Congratulations Susanna and Bailey!
Please help us celebrate our latest Atlas Certified Team. Training a service dog is not easy feat. Completing training throughout a pandemic is even harder. This did not stop this incredible and hard-working pair continue to progress.
Thanks to Bailey, Susanna can feel confident, safe, and independent navigating her day-to-day life: “Even a light grip on Bailey’s balance harness is more effective than a cane. She provides grounding for balance and forward momentum. She will match my pace, helping me navigate broken concrete, icy patches and other balance challenges. When Bailey is with me, she helps me manage the disabling effects of a neuromuscular gait disorder and walk with an ease I had not felt for years.”
Thanks to Bailey, Susanna can feel confident, safe, and independent navigating her day-to-day life. We are proud to call these two an Atlas Certified Team.
Meet The Puppies
Last month we gave you some exciting news about a puppy acquired for our new Assistance Dogs Set in Motion program. Today, we have even more exciting news: we doubled in puppies!
Meet Cole (yellow lab) and Charlotte (chocolate lab). Both are starting their journeys with Atlas. They will be spending the next 10 or so months with an Atlas Puppy Raiser to then be handed over to a client who will continue their training and certification with Atlas. Assistance Dogs Set in Motion is for the person who can and wants to train their own service dog, but for whom starting with a puppy is simply not possible.
Charlotte (also known as Lottie) will be training specifically to work with a veteran, while Cole may be considered for a civilian or veteran in need.
These pups and this program were made possible thanks to the immense generosity of our supporters, including a grant from the Latham Foundation and another generous anonymous donor. It will truly be a game-changer for many disabled people who want to train their own service dog.
Our application window will be opening shortly with more information on pricing and scholarship opportunities. Please stay tuned!
