Assistance Dogs International Candidacy

We are beyond excited to announce that we have become a candidate program of Assistance Dogs International (ADI)! ADI is a worldwide coalition of non-profit organizations that train assistance dogs. They have become a leading authority within the international service dog industry, and we are proud to be one of the few owner-trainer organizations recognized as a candidate program of ADI. This is a major accomplishment for us and the first step towards being able to receive full accreditation.

APDT Conference

Last month, we attended the annual Association for Professional Dog Trainers conference in Daytona Beach, Florida. We had a wonderful time meeting many passionate trainers and other organizations. We were proud to have the opportunity to do a demonstration on accessible training and help dog professionals think about how to incorporate accessibility and adaptive training methods when working with disabled clients and their dogs.

Cal's Journey

We have been raising Cal for Amy, a veteran thanks to dedicated funding towards the program.
A chocolate Labrador with a shiny coat sits on grass covered with autumn leaves. The dog wears a red harness and has a silver tag on its collar. Its head is slightly tilted, and it gazes attentively at the camera.

Cal, now eight months old is showing how naturally adept he is at reading and responding to other’s emotions. He loves every person he meets, does a great job reading the sense of other dogs he meets, and continues to show he was born to be a service dog. As an adolescent dog, he of course has his zoomies, but is also excellent at self-soothing, grabbing a toy and very happy to cuddle up in your lap.

He just seems to know when his person is having a tough day. As Cal is such an empathic dog who also expresses his emotions openly, we are making sure to reinforce and build his confidence in as many novel settings as possible.  Present training, in addition to foundational skills, thus includes as many varied outings as possible
