Trainer's Statement

I have been surrounded by animals since I was a young child. I have always had at least one dog at my side, and I have been active in training since before I was 10. Dogs have been my constant companions; just as I have seen many a stray or shelter dog through fear and reactivity issues, they have seen me through hard times, too.

In 2008, I started actively volunteering, training, and working with service dog organizations. I have witnessed firsthand the amazing difference well-trained dogs can make in the lives of veterans, other adults, and children with physical, emotional, or psychological challenges. I am driven to help as many people and dogs as possible experience this transformation. This goal led me to take steps toward becoming a professional dog trainer.

In 2012, I was one of four people who founded a for-profit business specializing in owner-based service dog training. While that business is still going strong and serving many people, my experience there highlighted the great need for ethical service dog training and the fact that many cannot afford the costs of a private trainer.

I am an active volunteer at the Seattle Animal Shelter as an advanced dog walker and foster program trainer and case manager. I am always on the quest for new knowledge, skills, and perspective in the name of advancing positive and successful dog training techniques. I focus just as much on the people side of the relationship as on the animal side, always looking to strengthen the amazing bond between the species.

These experiences led me to become one of the founders of Atlas Assistance Dog where I currently serve as the organization’s President.
